Vanessa Hudgens appears on the cover of February’s FLARE, where she talks about breaking away from her child star past for darker roles in projects like Spring Breakers and Gimme Shelter.
The actress says of the more mature movies, “They send you roles that you’ve just done, but I don’t want to do the same thing twice. I want the parts I gotta go out of my way for.”
And while her “High School Musical” days gave her a young-skewing fan base, Hudgens is happy to be broadening that appeal.
“Now it’s adults, and not even those who have kids, who actually know me,” she tells the magazine. “It’s kinda cool because people my age are actually seeing my work and appreciating it.”
