The third season of Homeland came to a close on Sunday night, edging past a previous record for a total of 2.4 million viewers at 9 p.m. Grossing 2.9 million viewers with an encore, it now ranks as the series' most-watched night to date.
Homeland's latest averages have it pulling in a total of 7 million weekly viewers with DVR, On Demand and encore plays. That makes it the series' most-watched season to date. A previous first-run record for Homeland was set with the second season's penultimate outing, which brought in 2.35 million viewers.

The 7 million average is of particular note for Showtime, as it now ranks as the biggest weekly viewership of any original series in network history. It outpaced closest runner-up, the eighth and final season of Dexter, by 13 percent through the same time period.
As for freshman Masters of Sex, the show averaged 1.2 million viewers at 10 p.m. -- up 21 percent from its series premiere in September. The episode pulled 1.5 million viewers for the night. And it is currently pacing with 4.8 million weekly viewers, making it the most-watched first season in Showtime history.
