NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The party will soon be over for David Duchovny and the television series “Californication.”
Showtime said Monday that the series, which stars Duchovny as overly active Hollywood writer Hank Moody, will conclude after a 12-episode final season that begins next April. That will be the show’s seventh season.
“Californication” has steadily gained in the ratings and its sixth season was its most-watched. Showtime didn’t give any reason for the series ending.

Showtime President David Nevins says producers have promised a “beautiful and satisfying conclusion” for Moody.
