Paris Hilton did NOT confuse Nelson Mandela with Martin Luther King, Jr. on Twitter following Mandela’s death, despite a fake “tweet” that spread on Thursday.

Shortly after the South African icon died, celebrities around the world began reacting to the news.

A Photoshopped tweet — fake but made to look like it had been written by Hilton — began circulated, and read: “RIP Nelson Mandela. Your ‘I Have A Dream’ speech was so inspiring. An amazing man.”

Except that was NOT actually Hilton — just a hoax, apparently started by the @DeletedTweets account.

The real Hilton was on a flight to Miami when news about Mandela broke, and when she learned about the phony tweet making the rounds, she was understandably upset.
