LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- “Third Rock From the Sun” alumna Kristen Johnston has revealed she has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder that — at times — left her barely able to move.
“The Exes” star opened up about her illness on Facebook on Tuesday.
“I’ve been really, really sick since early Sept.,” she wrote in a post to her Facebook followers. “Full body muscle weakness to the extent that just walking difficult, stairs impossible and I even need a neck brace to hold my head up.

“Lying down I’m fine, which is great for writing or killing time on social media (thank you all!!), but it’s kind of disasterous when you’re in a sitcom that requires tons of physical comedy,” she added.
Kristen said she was diagnosed with the “rare auto-immune disorder” after four months and visits to 17 different doctors.
Explaining her illness, the name of which she chose not to disclose, Kristen wrote, “my immune system has decided to go rogue & attack my muscles.”
She is currently receiving treatment and back at work, but while she was suffering she said she “begrudgingly” missed two episodes of her sitcom “The Exes” due to the illness.
The actress said she is thankful for the support she received from her TV series crew and the network behind it.
“I gotta say, TV Land and everyone at ‘the exes’ have been just amazing, all of them…so patient, understanding, loving & supportive,” she wrote.
