John Goodman is returning to Saturday Night Live for his 13th time as host.
The actor hosted nearly every year from 1989-2001, and trails only Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin as the most prolific host in the show's history. A lot has changed since Goodman last hosted back in November 2001 – when Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan and Jimmy Fallon were among the castmembers and Goodman's final impersonation of Linda Tripp was still a recent memory.
So, what can we expect from the legendary funnyman?

Major Guest Stars
SNL traditionally likes to bring out the big guns for its final episode of the year. Last year, Martin Short's episode featured Tom Hanks and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as Kristen Wiig and Jimmy Fallon. Expect a handful of big names.
Goodman in a Drag
There's something inherently funny about Goodman in a dress and a wig – whether he be playing LindaTripp for the Monica Lewinsky scandal or Anna Nicole Smith. (See the video at the bottom of the post.) If he goes drag again, who do you think he could play?
Inside Llewyn Davis
It's pretty much guaranteed a movie star who comes on as host in the midst of a promotional campaign will get a nod for his or her film in the show. We're guessing this will take place during Goodman's opening monologue, which will probably feature a musical component.
Roseanne
How awesome would this be? We'd like to see a digital short spoofing Goodman's classic TV show, but with a twist ala Tina Fey's Girls sketch earlier this season. Goodman got angry about Roseanne in his promos, which have been a fairly decent indicator of what will be tackled on the show. (See: Paul Rudd and One Direction last week).
Fox News Cold Open
There's no clear frontrunner for this week's cold open. We have a sneaking suspicion SNL will dust off its Fox & Friends sketch and mock Fox News Channel's coverage of the "War on Christmas. But it'd be hard to top what Jon Stewart and The Daily Show have already done so well.
