In a move that is sure to shock scores of female American Idol fans, season seven alum Jason Castro has lopped off his locks of love.
The 26 year old singer announced his hair-altering decision by tweeting "The day has come. #GoodbyeDreads." His sister, Jackie, did the honors, as is seen by this clip the Texas-native shared on his Instagram account.
Parting is sweet sorrow for the "Only A Mountain" vocalist -- he has sported his signature look since his senior year at Rowlett High School.

Castro isn't the first Idol alum to chop off his dreadlocks. Season-nine runner-up Crystal Bowersox made a similar move last month.
