LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Valerie Harper has continued to defy the odds, out and about 11 months after doctors gave her three months to live back in January.
The former “Rhoda” star, 74, returned to “Dancing with the Stars” to perform on the Season 17 finale on Tuesday and said that while she has experienced some minor complications from her terminal cancer, overall she’s feeling well.
“I had a few little strange things but they probably would have happened anyway,” the actress told People of her current health. “I don’t have any big terrible symptoms, so as long as that’s happening and I’m seeing my doctors, what’s to complain about?

“There’s people out there really suffering, so I’m feeling pretty good,” she continued.
During a September visit to Access Hollywood Live, Valerie opened up to Billy Bush and Kit Hoover about why she thinks she’s been able to defy medical odds thus far.

“I think [attitude] plays into everything in life – I really do, and not just for me personally,” she said at the time, when asked why she believes her health is thriving. “I do think that my willingness to accept that there’s death, and it may be sooner, it may be later, but I’m going to live now [has helped].
“I think I would [suggest that mindset] for everybody,” she continued.
