The Voice trimmed down to its top six singers on Tuesday night, and only three coaches made the cut.
For the third week in a row, The Voice implemented its Instant Save, where one contestant is rescued from a double elimination by collecting the most #VoiceSave tweets within a fragile five-minute window. Since a huge portion of the country doesn't watch the elimination episode live (or stay glued to Twitter to field their choices) we truly hope the new, weekly ritual isn't how the winner is chosen during the live finale.

The bottom three weren't revealed until after a few performances. Ellie Goulding sang "Burn" with a few contestants, while Cee Lo Green brought in Big Gipp of Goodie Mob to debut their new track "Amy," and the top eight joined together for "Will the Circle Be Unbroken."
Then it was time for the big reveal: The bottom three of the week were Blake Shelton's Ray Boudreaux, Christina Aguilera's Matthew Schuler and Green's Caroline Pennell (again).
"I'm surprised Matthew didn't make it -- I'm shocked," said Adam Levine, who was particularly moved by his performance of "Hallelujah" a few weeks ago. Twitter agreed with the Maroon 5 lead (as they did last week when he predicted Pennell would be saved as well), saving Schuler. Swamp pop singer Boudreaux and sweet Pennell were sent home.
The top six ranks Levine in the lead with three singers (still untouched!), Aguilera with two and Shelton with one. The elimination of Pennell means that Green is out for the season as well -- but hey, at least he has his new single.
