LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Paul Walker has died, a rep for the star confirmed to NBC News.
Representatives for the “Fast & Furious” star also posted the news on Walker’s official Facebook page on Saturday night.
“It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide,” read the statement on the actor’s Facebook page. “He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences.”

Celebrities quickly hit Twitter to share their sadness over Walker’s passing.

Marie Osmond wrote, “My heart broken for the loss of family friend @RealPaulWalker Such an amazing actor & person Sending thoughts and prayers to his family.”
Dominic Monaghan Tweeted, “awful news. Paul was a lovely guy. Handsome as all hell and funny and cool to boot. Terrible news. My condolences.”
Michael B. Jordan wrote, “Man life is so short. People you care about can be here one min and gone the next Don’t take life for granted RIP Paul Walker.”

On Saturday night, Universal, the studio behind the “Fast & Furious” films, issued a statement over the sad news.
“All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the ‘Fast and Furious’ films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul’s family,” the studio’s statement read.
