Nahnatchka Khan
Fox has picked up its first comedy pilot for the 2014-15 season.
After issuing a pilot production commitment to Fatrick in August, the network has picked up the comedy from Don't Trust the B---- in Apt 23 creator Nahnatchka Khan.
Fatrick centers on Patrick, a 30-something man who realizes that his life isn't quite where it should be. The former fat kid is forced to face the damage caused by years of being "Fatrick" -- a cubby little kid just trying to survive. The comedy will take place both in the past -- showing "Fatrick" at school and at home -- as well as in the present.
Khan and Apartment 23 co-EP Corey Nickerson penned the pilot, which will be directed by Oscar winners Nat Faxon and Jim Rash (The Descendants, The Way Way Back). Fatrick hails from 20th Century Fox Television, where Khan is under an overall deal.
Khan has two projects in the mix this development season, Fox's Fatrick and an adaptation of Fresh off the Boat, which earned a put pilot commitment from ABC in August. Fatrick reunites her with Fox, where she spent seven years working on American Dad.
For Faxon (Ben and Kate) and Rash (Community), Fatrick will mark their TV directing debut.
Fatrick marks Fox's first comedy pilot order for next season. The network already handed out series orders to John Mulaney's semi-autobiographical comedy and a half-hour from 30 Rock's Tina Fey, Matt Hubbard and Robert Carlock set at a women's college. The latter was picked up straight to series this season.
Khan is repped by WME; Faxon is with CAA, Principato Young and Stone Meyer; Rash is with Principato Young and Stone Meyer.
