Miley Cyrus currently leads an online vote for TIME Person of the Year.
Really!
The tongue-wagging pop star has opened up a commanding lead in the magazine’s poll, which asks visitors to determine which person “most influenced the news this year, for better or worse.”
There are actually two separate polls — one in which two public figures “face off” against each other, and one that’s simply a “yes/no” vote on each candidate’s relevance as Person of the Year.
In the overall standings, Cyrus currently has 29.5 percent of the vote — more than twice that of second-place contender Narendra Modi, an Indian politician sitting at 12.7 percent.
NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden (9.8%), Egyptian general Abdel Fattah el-Sisi (6.7%), and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (6.0%) trail badly.
Other notables who are way below Cyrus include Vladimir Putin, Pope Francis, President Obama and Rand Paul.
Apparently, twerking matters.
Voting will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on December 4, with the winner of the reader polls announced on December 6.
TIME editors, however, ultimately choose the Person of the Year themselves, and the decision will be revealed on December 11.
Whether they incorporate the readers’ vote remains to be seen.
