Chicago Fire (2.2 adults) shed four-tenths of a point with the softer lead-in, though it still topped the 10 p.m. hour. NBC averaged a 2.7 rating with adults 18-49 and 9.2 million viewers for the night.
In the aftermath of last week's heavily promoted cast exit, NCIS (2.7 adults) took a spill on CBS. The series dropped eight tenths of a point. NCIS:LA (2.6 adults) and Person of Interest (2.0 adults) dropped only a tenth of a point a piece. CBS topped the night in total viewers with 14.8 million and pulled second place with a 2.4 adults rating.

ABC's Agents of SHIELD (2.8 adults) shed another half of a point in its third outing. The drama's softer lead opened into a much more steady The Goldbergs (2.0 adults) -- down just two tenths of a point from last week. Trophy Wife (1.4 adults) held last week's score, and a repeat of Scandal (1.0 adults) improved on the time slot showing from the axed Lucky 7. ABC averaged a 1.8 rating with adults 18-49 and 5.4 million viewers.
With four weeks under their belts, the Fox comedies seem to have settled. A steady Dads (1.3) led into slightly boosted outings for Brooklyn Nine-Nine (1.5 adults) and New Girl (2.1 adults), up one and two tenths of a point, respectively. The Mindy Project (1.4 adults) was off a tenth of a point from the week prior, with the network averaging a 1.6 adults rating for the night and 3.4 million viewers.
The Originals settled into its regular time slot on The CW (0.9 adults), coming in just shy of last week's premiere. The series premiere has already improved 50 percent in Live+Three DVR returns. Supernatural is the network's real success story of the night, however, improving by four tenths of a point from last year's Wednesday premiere. The veteran series brought in a 1.2 adults rating and 2.5 million viewers -- its best premiere numbers in three years. The CW averaged a 1.0 rating with adults 18-49 and 2.2 million viewers.
