Four adults and two children were found dead Tuesday night in an alleged murder-suicide in South Carolina, authorities said.
Multiple bodies were found Tuesday after deputies were called to a Greenwood, S.C., home for a possible domestic violence incident.
Dozens of deputies and investigators responded to the call, arriving at the home at about 6 p.m, WYFF reported. A negotiator was called to the scene when deputies got no response from inside, Greenwood County Sheriff Tony Davis said. After more than two hours there was still no response and a SWAT team entered the home, where six bodies were discovered.
Four adults and two children were among the dead, said Davis. He estimated the adults were in their 40s to 50s and the children were about age 10.
Early radio calls indicated the suspect entered the home and tied up several people with duct tape. Two other children who were at the scene ran to a neighbor's home, and the neighbor called police after hearing a gun shot.
The suspected hostage-taker Bryan E. Sweatt, a 27-year-old Greenwood man, was identified by an anonymous officer to the Greenwood Index-Journal, indicating he was among those found dead after killing himself.
Officials have not yet identified the victims.
