The cast of “Orange is the New Black” reunited at PaleyFest in New York on Wednesday night, along with Piper Kerman, whose autobiographical book about her year in a women’s prison is the basis for the Netflix series.
Taylor Schilling, Natasha Lyonne, Madeline Brewer, Taryn Manning and Jason Biggs walked the red carpet at the event.

The show’s creator Jenji Kohan said during the panel that she had originally considered cast member Laura Prepon for the role of Piper, but re-thought the casting because “I don’t worry about Laura in prison.”

Kohan explained, “I needed Piper as someone I would worry about. Taylor evokes a different response.”
The series returns for its second season in 2014.
