Jack Bauer is heading across the pond. Twentieth Century Fox Television announced Thursday that 24 continuation Live Another Day will be filming in London.
The 12-episode event series, the first from the franchise since it went off the air in 2010, marks the first time since 2008 telepic 24: Redemption that the national security thriller has taken the action outside of the United States.
“24 has always had such a global sensibility,” said star and ep Kiefer Sutherland. “But to be able to tell this intense 24-style story with the beauty of Europe’s history and architecture as the backdrop is going to be fascinating. Hopefully, by the time you’re finished watching an episode, you’ll feel like you’ve been there... on the edge of your seat.”
24: Live Another Day, also produced by Imagine Television and Teakwood Lane Productions, will debut on Fox in summer 2014.
“We wanted the show’s return to be an event, and part of that was putting Jack in a very different context," said co-showrunner and ep Evan Katz. "Four years ago, we left Jack a fugitive from justice and we’re going to pick him up four years later in London.”
“Jack is soon back on the run and it takes us into the streets of London and in places that break new ground for the show," added co-showrunner and ep Manny Coto. "We’ve shot in New York, Washington, Los Angeles and Cape Town -- but now we’re in London and Jack’s loose on the streets of Europe, hunted by and hunting bad guys.”
The latest iteration of 24 is still assembling its cast, but Mary Lynn Rajskub has already joined Sutherland in reprising her role on the series.
David Fury, Robert Cochran, Brian Grazer, Jon Cassar and Howard Gordon are also serving as executive producers on the project.
