Five people were taken to a hospital in Raleigh Thursday night after an accident at the North Carolina State Fair involving a ride called the Vortex. Officials are investigating the cause.
Jeffrey Hammerstein at Wake County EMS said one person had serious injuries. Another person had minor injuries, he said. He had no details on the condition of the other three victims.
The Vortex restarted while a ride operator was preparing to offload its riders, Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said.
