LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- I haven’t bought much of anything as far as clothes are concerned since I am still working to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.
But I needed some fast updates for my wardrobe and there are a few trends I couldn’t wait to try.
CAMO: This is one trend that’s so easy to do, and as Rihanna proves, is super stylish! I’ve actually bought a couple of camo items including a cute jacket, which I’ve been throwing over everything from dresses to jeans. I also purchased cute blue camo chinos from the Gap (on sale!) and cool camo cargo style pants from J. Crew, which have since sold out. People have stopped me and asked me about these pants, they are that good.
MOTO: I live for this trend, it’s such a classic. I’m not sure if it’s in my budget to buy a new leather motorcycle jacket and I’m lucky enough to have a pretty amazing black leather YSL one I bought in Paris a few years ago that will never go out of style. There are many ways to get in on the look though…including plaid, wool and jersey versions that are affordable and accessible. Faux leather is another way to get into the trend without breaking the bank and there are plenty of good options out there.
THE STATEMENT SWEATSHIRT: I am loving this because what sweatshirt isn’t comfy? Not that this trend is about some schlumpy old, oversized sweatshirt you wear to the gym though. This is a more polished look and the tops are embellished with everything from lace to studs. Since I still have a couple of pounds to lose, a bonus for me is that it’s a looser look, which helps hide my midsection!
SEEING SPOTS: Leopard never goes out of style and it’s never been hotter than this Fall. If you don’t want to go too crazy with it, accessorize! I love leopard shoes, scarves and belts.
PLAID: I am dipping one toe into the plaid trend…I like it but won’t be going overboard buying plaid. Neutral colors plaids work best for me and I got a totally adorable brown and cream plaid shirt (marked down twice!) at Madewell.
