Almost Human has found a genius.
Emmy and Tony winner John Larroquette has landed a recurring role on Fox's futuristic sci-fi action drama from J.J. Abrams and Fringe's J.H. Wyman, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Larroquette will portray Nigel, a genius roboticist who is described as "sympathetic, highly intelligent and a bit broken."
Almost Human, launching with a two-night event Nov. 17 and 18, takes place in the year 2048, when an increase in crime requires every police officer to partner with an android. Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, Lili Taylor, Minka Kelly, Mackenzie Crook and Michael Irby star in the hour-long series.
Best known for his Emmy-winning role on Night Court, Larroquette has starred in The Practice, Boston Legal and The John Larroquette Show. In 2011 he won a Tony for his Broadway debut in the revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying opposite Daniel Radcliffe.
Larroquette is repped by Resolution and Brillstein Entertainment.
Almost Human premieres Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
