TV Ratings: ‘X Factor’ Inches Up From Premiere Low, More Losses for ‘Million Second Quiz’

The second night of The X Factor's third season gave Fox a win among adults 18-49, though the singing competition still saw steep drops from last year's comparable episode.

The two-hour auditions averaged a 2.2 rating with adults 18-49 and 6.8 million viewers. In the demo, that's a tenth of a point improvement from Wednesday's one-hour opener, but a 30 percent fall from the sophomore run's Thursday debut (3.1 adults). The X Factor did manage to post significant improvement between the first and second hours, rising three-tenths of a point.

Several local affiliates carrying the NFL Network's Thursday night NFL game means early returns are likely skewed for CBS (New York) and ABC (Boston). CBS saw Big Brother (2.6 adults) rise one-tenth of a point from last week, giving the network a nightly average of a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.7 million viewers.

The season finale of  Rookie Blue (1.4 adults), possibly seeing some inflation from interruption in Boston, was up four-tenths of a point from last week. ABC averaged a 1.4 rating with adults 18-49 and 5.1 million viewers.

For the fourth consecutive night, Million Second Quiz dropped on NBC. The episode earned a 1.1 rating with adults 18-49. Subsequent encores of Hollywood Game Night (1.0 adults) nearly matched the original Quiz at 8 p.m., with NBC averaging a 1.0 rating with adults 18-49 and 4.0 million viewers for the night.

Repeats averaged a 0.2 adults rating and 656,000 viewers on the CW.

Univision averaged a 1.3 rating with adults 18-49 and 3.3 million viewers, while Telemundo earned a 0.4 demo rating and 1.1 million viewers.
