TruTV is doubling down on Killer Karaoke.
The cable network announced Monday that it has ordered eight more episodes for the singing competition series, bringing the first-season total to 16. Production on the new episodes begins October in Los Angeles, with Killer Karaoke slated for an early 2014 return.
Additionally, Sugar Ray frontman Mark McGrath (Don't Forget the Lyrics) will join the series as the new host. Jackass star Steve-O hosted the first eight episodes. The series debuted to 1.2 million viewers in November 2012.
Killer Karaoke pits contestants against each other as they sing a hit song while enduring funny and unexpected physical challenges. The singer with the highest score at the end of each episode wins the cash prize of up to $10,000.
Killer Karaoke, which wrapped the first eight episodes in January, is inspired by Zodiak Media's Sing If You Can. Zodiak USA produces; Tony Yates and James Rowley serve as executive producers.
