Starz's Outlander has added another Game of Thrones alum to its ranks.
Duncan Lacroix, who had a minor part as a Karstark Soldier on the HBO drama, has boarded the cabler's adaptation of Dianna Gabaldon's best-selling books.
The drama, from Battlestar Galactica's Ron Moore, revolves around Fraser (Sam Heughan), who strikes up a passionate affair with Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743 and thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire's heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Lacroix will play Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, Jamie's godfather. He's described as loyal to Jamie and mysterious and dark, a character who doesn't say a lot because he doesn't have to as his reputation -- and his fists -- often do the talking. At first skeptical of Claire, like his fellow clansmen, Murtagh eventually warms to her as he seeks what ever is best for Jamie.
He joins a cast that also includes fellow Game of Thrones alum Tobias Menzies, Scottish natives Graham McTavish and Gary Lewis. McTavish (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, 24) will play Dougal MacKenzie, while Lewis (Gangs of New York) will portray Colum MacKenzie.
Lacroix's credits also include Sky TV's Primeval, Cromwell in Ireland and The CW's Reign. He most recently wrapped a role on the second season of History's Vikings, playing a Saxon noble named Ealderman Werferth.

Moore will write the series and executive produce alongside Jim Kohlberg. The drama hails from Sony Pictures Television and is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining & Supply Co. and Left Bank Pictures. Starz picked up the drama in June with a 16-episode order for 2014. John Dahl (Dexter, Breaking Bad) will direct. Production will begin in Scotland, where the series is set, in the fall.
An actress to play Claire has not yet been announced.
