Bravo
Lisa Edelstein
House alum Lisa Edelstein is heading to Bravo.
The People's Choice Award winner has nabbed the starring role in Bravo's adaptation of The Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
STORY: Marti Noxon's 'Divorce' Dramedy Nabs Pilot Order at Bravo
From Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Marti Noxon, the hourlong dramedy is based on the book series by executive producer Vicki Iovine. It follows the best-selling author of a self-help book series, Vicki (Edelstein), who is secretly hiding her separation from her husband and starts to navigate her life as a single woman in her 40s in Los Angeles. She begins to side with and take advice more often from her divorced friends rather than her married ones, and it leads her to some unexpected life-changing experiences.
Noxon (Glee, Mad Men, Grey's Anatomy) will pen the pilot, with Dawn Olmstead, Iovine and The Weinstein Co. TV president Meryl Poster on board to executive produce the Universal Cable Productions vehicle, which was originally developed for Showtime as a half-hour vehicle.
For Edelstein, Divorce comes as she is poised to begin a multiple-episode arc on ABC's Castle when the Nathan Fillion drama returns Sept. 23. Since Fox's House wrapped its run, the actress has been keeping busy with a roster of guest-star roles on ABC's Scandal, Showtime's House of Lies, CBS' Elementary and The Good Wife, among others. Should the pilot move forward, it would mark her first series-regular gig since House.
Edelstein, who won the People's Choice Award for best actress for her performance as Dr. Lisa Cuddy, is repped by IFA and manager Cynthia Campos-Greenberg at Water Street Anthem Entertainment.
Divorce is the third scripted entry to receive a pilot order at Bravo, following Rita and The Joneses. Of the two, only Rita was cast and produced before Bravo opted to not move forward with the project, starring Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn.
