THR also has the details on what viewers will see this season on Gold Rush. Three gold-mining crews across two continents break new ground in a hunt for the ultimate payday.

From the official story line for this season:

Todd Hoffman has located ground in the jungles of South America that hold five times more gold than the Klondike. He plans to mine it, but only if he can convince his crew to join in on his most daring and dangerous adventure yet. Each Hoffman crew member, including Dave Turin and Todd’s father Jack Hoffman, must face a life-changing decision. For those brave enough to commit to Todd’s new dream of mining for gold full time in the hostile South American jungles, the living, weather and other conditions are unlike anything they’ve ever faced. However, the payoff could be a reward beyond their wildest dreams.

In the gold mining off season, Dakota Fred Hurt and the Dakota Boys took to the skies in search of the gold source of Porcupine Creek. However, with no easy way to get to their new mountain claim, Fred and Dustin are forced to start the season on a journey back to the glory hole in subzero temperatures.

After barely breaking even last season at Big Nugget, Parker Schnabel thought long and hard about his future and made what was the biggest decision of his young life. He is foregoing college to pursue his dream of gold mining in the legendary Klondike. Parker has located virgin ground to mine and he dreams of finding easy gold. Hundreds of miles from home with his college fund hanging in the balance, Parker leases over 300 acres of land from Klondike legend Tony Beets, and buys secondhand equipment. Parker soon finds out the hard way that mining for gold in the frozen north is a whole new ballgame.
