Dave Coulier finally weighs in on an urban legend that's been circulating in the music industry since the '90s -- specifically, 1995, when Alanis Morissette's groundbreaking Jagged Little Pill was released. The debut single from the album that made Morissette a superstar was the angry jilted-love song, "You Oughta Know," which details all the ways a certain ex-lover sucks. Many have cited Coulier, who played sweet goofball Uncle Joey on hit sitcom Full House and dated fellow Canadian Morrisette in the early '90s, as the song's inspiration.
Speaking with HuffPost Live, Coulier, 53, said he called his ex when speculation first arose about the fiery song's real-life source. "I called her and said, 'Look, what do you want me to say to the media when these folks call me? And she said, 'You can say whatever you want.'"

So here's what the comedian-actor has to say about it. "I've always taken the high road and said, "You know, the guy in that song is an idiot. I would hate to be that guy,' " Coulier, who is 15 years her senior, shared.
Grilled further about whether he thinks the hit song is, indeed, inspired by their relationship, he finally admits that there's a certain line in the lyrics that, to him, hinted it may be about him after all.

Which line? "I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner."
He explains: "We had already broken up....She called and I said, 'Hey, you know, I'm right in the middle of dinner. Can I just call you right back?' When I heard the line, it was like, uhhh-ohhh!"

For reference, here are the rest of the lyrics in that verse: "You seem very well, things look peaceful / I'm not quite as well, I thought you should know / Did you forget about me Mr. Duplicity / I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner / It was a slap in the face how quickly I was replaced / Are you thinking of me when you f--- her?" (Another memorable R-rated line?: "Is she perverted like me / Would she go down on you in a theatre?")
Despite possibly being immortalized in a ditty about a terrible cheat, Coulier has nothing but good things to say about Morissette, who's now happily married to musician Mario "Souleye" Treadway, with whom she has a son.
"She was always very, very sweet. And this kind of angry moniker just followed her around….i don't know that girl at all. The Angry Alanis -- I never met her. I never experienced that at all. She was always really funny. Really smart. And, you know, just very genuine and down-to earth."
