Amazon Studios has enlisted an A-list guest cast to join its first original scripted series.
Sex and the City's Cynthia Nixon, Amy Sedaris (Strangers With Candy), Wanda Sykes (Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Julie White (Go On) have boarded Alpha House, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Alpha House stars John Goodman and was written by Academy Award nominee and Pulitzer Prize winner Garry Trudeau (Doonesbury). The comedy, featuring Goodman (Roseanne, Argo), Clark Johnson (The Wire), Matt Malloy (Six Feet Under, Law & Order) and Mark Consuelos (American Horror Story: Asylum, Guys With Kids), follows four senators who live together in a rented house in Washington, D.C.

Nixon will play Sen. Carly Armiston, a formidable, confident, Democratic senator from New York; Sedaris will portray Louise Laffer, the sweet, concerned wife of Sen. Louis Laffer; Sykes is set as Sen. Rosalyn DuPeche, a strong-willed and funny Democrat who happens to be a neighbor of the male senators; and White will play the tough, determined and charming Southern wife to Goodman's character.
“We're lucky enough to have four of the most talented performers around joining the show,” said Trudeau, who worked with Nixon on his celebrated show Tanner '88 and has long admired the work of Sykes, Sedaris and White.
The series is currently filming in New York and will air on Prime Instant Video later this year.
Nixon is repped by WME and Innovative; Sedaris is with Paradigm and Schreck Rose; Sykes is handled by WME and Roger A. Pliakas; and White is with Paradigm and Himber Entertainment.
