Rachel Potter presented herself as a raw talent in desperate need of a break on Wednesday’s “X Factor,” but the singer already has a career past and a fan base.
No matter — the judges loved the Broadway veteran’s rendition of “Somebody to Love,” anyway, and she received a standing ovation from Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland, and Paulina Rubio.
(Similarly, Tuesday’s standout, Lillie McCloud, also has a noteworthy history overlooked by the show.)
“You have the look, the best voice that I heard. This industry is ready for you,” Lovato told Potter.
And Simon Cowell said, “It felt like to me you’ve wanted to give this performance for a long, long time and you proved a point….You got four big fat yesses.”
