There won't be much pressure on Bob's Burgers when it returns to Fox this Sunday, Sept. 29. The network announced Thursday that it's picked up the cartoon for an additional 22-episode season.
“Bob's Burgers is one of those rare finds that just continues to outdo itself, creatively,” said Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly. “The show has become a key member of our Sunday Animation Domination family, and we're looking forward to attracting new fans with another season.”
Sunday's Animation Domination lineup, which also includes The Simpsons and Family Guy, needs that third veteran. After last season's cancellation of The Cleveland Show, American Dad will also leave the cartoon block in 2014 when it moves to TBS.
Murder Police, from David A. Goodman and Jason Ruiz, is set to launch as part of the block in midseason -- much as Bob's Burgers did in 2011.
The most recent season of Bob's Burgers averaged a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 and with an average viewer age of 32 years old, it joins its Animation Domination neighbors as one of the five youngest-skewing series on the broadcast networks.
From 20th Century Fox Television and Bento Box Entertainment, Bob's Burgers was created by Loren Bouchard and counts H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman and Kristen Schaal among its voice talent.
Bouchard and Jim Dauterive serve as executive producers and writers.
