Don’t tell college students not to Instagram something, University of Colorado at Boulder, because they will just want to do it more.
Boulder County, Colo., received between 6 and 10 inches of rain in about 12-18 hours, the National Weather Service reported, and up to 4 inches of additional rain is expected to fall in the region on Thursday. Flash flood warnings continued around the state and two flood related deaths have been confirmed in Boulder.
The University of Colorado at Boulder announced it would close Thursday and Friday, due to concern about flash flooding and the school has been regularly warning students on Twitter, Facebook and the school's website to stay indoors, let their families know they're safe, and not go tubing in the tunnels.
The school's spokesman also warned students not to go outside and Instagram the storm ("It could be the last picture you ever take."). Some students failed to heed that warning.
