NBC's preseason football coverage proved a winner on Sunday evening.
According to fast nationals, which are not time zone-adjusted, the network averaged 6 million viewers and a preliminary 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 — the latter topping the broadcast competition. NBC aired a preseason matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers. (Final numbers will come later Monday.)
While NBC likely will take home the demo victory, CBS dominated in the viewership department with a 6.7 million primetime average on the strength of Big Brother.
Big Brother (7.1 million, 2.3) jumped 10 percent from last week's comparable telecast, which helped boost Unforgettable slightly (6.7 million, 1.2).
Meanwhile, an original episode of ABC's Secret Millionaire (4 million, 0.9) sank 25 percent to a season low, not helped by lead-in Family Dance Off (3.5 million, 0.7).
Fox aired encores of its Sunday night animation lineup following NFL preseason football.
With NBC likely topping the demo, CBS averaged a 1.4 rating, Fox with a 1.2 and ABC following with a 0.8. In viewers, CBS topped the competition, while NBC followed with 6 million, ABC with 3.9 million and Fox right behind.
