Scandal is adding Friends alum to its ranks.
Lisa Kudrow has landed a recurring role on ABC's red-hot drama from showrunner Shonda Rhimes, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The Friends alum, in her biggest acting commitment to date since the end of her 10-season run on the NBC comedy, will play a politician on the upcoming third season of the political fixer drama starring Emmy nominee Kerry Washington.
Additional details about her character -- including her name and just whom she would have political ties to -- are being kept under wraps, as is the date of her first episode.
The casting reunites Kudrow with her Emmy-nominated producing partner Dan Bucatinsky, with whom she exec produces Web Therapy and TLC's Who Do You Think You Are?
She marks the latest high-profile recurring player to join Scandal, following Scott Foley -- who was promoted to series regular for season three.

Kudrow, whose credits include features Easy A and The Other Woman, is repped by CAA and Viewpoint.
Rhimes recently told THR that President Fitzgerald Grant's (Tony Goldwyn) re-election will likely be on the menu for season three."We're going to head in that direction, but I don't know if we're going to get there in the first half of the season," Rhimes said. "But we are heading in that direction. It's a big deal. We're at the timeline where that starts to be an issue."
Scandal returns Thursday, Oct. 3 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
