ABC has released a new promo for the upcoming season of Revenge, and it introduces a huge mystery.
"If there's one thing you need to know about the season premiere of Revenge, this is it," the narrator says in voice-over.

Then we see Emily (Emily VanCamp) wearing a wedding dress while aboard a yacht. She's telling someone off screen, "I'm sorry," before getting shot twice and falling overboard.
In voice-over, we learn that the incident occurs in the first 60 seconds of the season three premiere.
As Revenge viewers know, the past two season premieres have started out with a big mystery involving a shooting (season one) and a drowning (season two), and then a good portion of the seasons were spent focusing on the events leading up to the big reveal of what happened.

Many viewers and critics expressed concern that last season had become too complicated and drifted away from the basic premise of Emily's quest for revenge against the Graysons. But ABC president Paul Lee told reporters at the recent Television Critics Association press tour that Sunil Nayar, who replaced showrunner Mike Kelley for season three, has "a slightly less complicated and a really interesting take."
Revenge returns at 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, on ABC.
