“The Voice” rejected Jennifer Lopez, claims In Touch.

According to the magazine that routinely misreports on J. Lo’s life, the performer “offered to be a mentor next season” on the hit NBC singing competition.

“But according to insiders, show execs weren’t interested,” says the tabloid.

This is a classic example of something not happening — and an outlet inventing an entire scandalous backstory for the non-event.

As Gossip Cop reported, Lopez is actually close to a deal to return to “American Idol” — there was never a conversation about working on “The Voice.”

“Jennifer never had discussions with NBC,” a source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop. “And was never turned down by the show. That rumor is not true.”

We’re told that a return to “Idol,” however, is very much in play.

“Returning to ‘American Idol’ isn’t about being turned down by any show, and it’s not about money,” adds our insider.

The job “makes a lot of sense” for Lopez this year, we’re told, because the timetable fits with her children’s own school and activities schedule.
