‘How to Make It In America’ Creator Sells Comedy to Fox

How to Make It In America creator Ian Edelman is prepping his small-screen return.

Edelman is teaming with Gangster Squad director Ruben Fleischer for a comedy set up at Fox, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

F.O.M.O. -- aka Fear of Missing Out -- revolves around the lives of people in a constant state of FOMO. Stuck in a job they don't want, a group of young life insurance brokers search for deeper meaning outside of their cubicles.

Edelman came up with the idea and will pen the script, which has received a script plus penalty commitment from Fox. He'll executive produce the 20th Century Fox Television entry alongside Ruben Fleischer via the latter's overall deal with the studio. Heather Petrigala, head of development at Fleischer's production company claudeismydog, will also produce.

Fleischer most recently directed Warner Bros.' Gangster Squad and is currently producing the feature Two Night Stand. His credits also include directing movies Zombieland and 30 Minutes or Less. He's repped by UTA and Sloane Offer.

Edelman, whose How to Make It was canceled in 2011 after two seasons on HBO, is with UTA and Hansen Jacobson.

This marks the first sale this development season for Fleischer, who had four projects set up at Fox and ABC last year. Of those, only Fox's The List moved to pilot. (Fox passed on the Michael Pena drama in May.)
