Glee is keeping it all in the Fox family for season five.

The musical has enlisted The X Factor judge Demi Lovato for a major season-five role, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

As first reported by TV Line, Lovato will have a recurring role as Dani, a New York-based struggling artist who becomes a friend to Rachel (Lea Michele) and Santana (Naya Rivera). She'll also have frequent interactions with Adam Lambert's mysterious character, details of whom are being kept under wraps. The American Idol alum and X Factor judge/former Disney Channel star will have several musical numbers together in Lovato's reportedly six-episode stint.

The Glee role marks Lovato's first acting gig since her Disney Channel series Sonny With a Chance ended in January 2011. The Fox dramedy will work around Lovato's X Factor schedule. She's repped by CAA, Jonas Group and Ziffren Brittenham.

The casting marks the latest example of synergy with Glee's Thursday night companions and the show's first casting since the death of star Cory Monteith on July 13.

During its fourth season, Glee booked Idol champ Jessica Sanchez for a multiepisode arc on the Ohio-set side of the series, where she played a diva singer at a rival glee club.

Glee returns Thursday, Sept. 26, at 9 p.m., with the first part of its Beatles tribute. The Cory Monteith episode airs Oct. 10, after which the series will take a short hiatus.
