Jennie Snyder Urman
Jennie Snyder Urman is off to a quick start so far this development season.
The Emily Owens MD creator has sold her second and third projects to Fox and The CW, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The CW's Cross is described as a drama set in the 19th century that follows 22-year-old Eliza, who secretly assumes her recently deceased twin brother Thomas' identity and takes his job working in a Boston hospital as a doctor's apprentice. The project explores gender politics, race relations and the birth of modern medicine during an explosive time in American history. Snyder will write and executive produce.
Cross joins the former 90210 EP's adaptation of Venezuelan telenovela adaptation Jane the Virgin at the youth-skewing network and a return to the medical drama of Emily Owens, which was canceled following a short season on The CW last year.

Fox, meanwhile, has picked up a script for comedy Sober Companion. Urman and David Rosenthal will write and exec produce Odd Couple-esque comedy about an out-of-control lawyer who is forced to enlist a sober companion in order to get his life back on track. (Not to be confused with Lucy Lu's sober companion on Elementary.)
Both projects hail from CBS Television Studios, where Urman is under an overall deal. (Jane hails from CBSTVS and Electus, with Urman writing and exec producing alongside Ben Silverman, Gary Pearl and Jorge Granier.)
The sale to Fox marks the latest off-network sale for CBSTVS, which earlier this week sold a siblings comedy from My Name Is Earl's Danielle Sanchez-Witzel to ABC as the studio looks to expand beyond its sibling networks.
Urban now has three scripts set up so far this young development season, joining Grey's Anatomy and Scandal's Shonda Rhimes, among others.
The trio of projects join The CW's upcoming drama series Reign, where Urman is a consulting producer. Her credits include Men in Trees, Gilmore Girls and the upcoming romantic comedy feature Something Borrowed. She's repped by UTA and Felker Toczek.
