Dr. Oz helped a Good Samaritan rescue a young British tourist whose foot was severed by a runaway taxi cab in a terrifying incident at Rockefeller Plaza in New York on Tuesday.

The woman, Sian Green, was reportedly eating a hot dog with a friend when the out-of-control vehicle came barreling into her, ripping off her foot and sending a bystander, plumber David Justino, into action.

Justino used his belt as a tourniquet to stop Green’s bleeding until professional medical personnel arrived on the scene.

Oz, who tapes his show at a nearby studio, heard the accident occur and rushed out to help, although he credits Justino as the day’s big hero.

“While in a meeting in our offices near Rockefeller Center, I heard an accident occur on the street below,” said the celebrity doctor on Facebook, posting the picture above. “A taxi driver lost control of his cab and collided with a woman, badly injuring her leg. David Justino (pictured), a plumber from New York, took action, removing his belt and using it as a tourniquet.”

Oz continued, “With the help of NYC first responders, who are the best in the world, the woman was treated and rushed to a local hospital.”

“I applaud the quick thinking and heroic actions of David and the first responders,” added Oz. “My prayers are with the victim for a speedy recovery.”

According to local reports, cab driver Mohammad Himon lost control of his vehicle following a fight with a bicyclist, plowing into Green and her friend as they ate hot dogs while sitting at a fountain.

The vendor who sold the pair their food reportedly put Green’s severed foot in a bucket of ice until the emergency responders arrived.

Green was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.
