Comedy Central is expanding its late-night franchise.
The Viacom-owned network has ordered its first-ever uncensored, weekly, late-night stand-up series starring Dave Attell. The half-hour show, which will launch with eight episodes, will feature Attell and his fellow comedians unfiltered. There will be sets from up-and-coming talent and familiar faces as well as interstitial moments throughout the episodes. Additionally, Comedy Central will air an hour stand-up special with Attell.

"When I was first approached for this, I thought someone said ‘Dave Chappelle,'” quipped Comedy Central president of content development and original programming Kent Alterman, adding: “I immediately said yes. I love Dave Attell, too, so it's fine."
With this order, the network is making a bet on familiarity. Comedy Central viewers likely are already familiar with Attell care of his late-night travelogue series, Insomniac With Dave Attell, which aired from 2001-04 and spawned several specials. His other Comedy Central projects have included the revival of The Gong Show With Dave Attell in 2008, a Comedy Central Presents stand-up special and regular appearances on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.
The male-skewing comedy network previously announced plans for a late-night strip starring Nerdist's Chris Hardwick. Both the Attell series and the special, which are being executive produced by Attell and 3 Arts, will bow in 2014.
