Amanda Bynes’ parents have been granted a temporary conservatorship over their troubled daughter.
A judge ruled to give legal control over the actress’ life to Rick and Lynn Bynes on Friday, following weeks of evaluation of Amanda’s mental health.
Their conservatorship will last until September 30, at which point the judge will decide whether to make it permanent.
The younger Bynes was not in court after an emergency hearing at her hospital earlier in the day, when a judge placed her on an extended, 30-day psychiatric hold.
Her attorney declared that the actress was not in favor of the conservatorship.
Rick and Lynn Bynes sought the legal move in the wake of their daughter’s increasingly erratic behavior, indicating that they believe her to be “extremely paranoid,” with “profound” body issues, a drug problem, and a dwindling bank account.
