One day after news broke that A&E was planning on renewing Longmire, the cabler has officially canceled The Glades.
The cancellation comes days after the Aug. 26 season-four finale delivered a season-best 3.4 million total viewers, 1.1 million in 18-49 and 1.3 million in 25-54. During the season, The Glades averaged 2.6 million viewers, 762,000 in 18-49 and 954,000 in 25-54 in the Monday 9 p.m. slot.
The Glades, created by Clifton Campbell, follows a Chicago detective who takes a job with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Matt Passmore, Kiele Sanchez, Carlos Gomez, Uriah Shelton, Jordan Wall and Michelle Hurd starred in the Fox TV Studios production.
The drama, which debuted in July 2010, was A&E's first original program to stay on for more than one season, establishing the network as a destination for scripted series. At the time, The Glades series debut was A&E's most-watched and highest-rated episode.
A&E is prepping its latest original scripted drama, the Chloe Sevigny starrer Those Who Kill in 2014, along with the second season of Bates Motel.
