Showtime is turning its documentary spotlight on Tig Notaro.
The premium cable network announced Tuesday that it has greenlit a doc featuring the popular comedian titled Knock Knock, It's Tig Notaro.
The entry will feature Notaro traveling across the country staging private comedy performances in homes, yards, driveways, barns and more for loyal fans. The performances will be filmed as part of the documentary, which will also feature guest appearances from her famous and funny friends.
The news comes a year after Notaro was diagnosed with breast cancer and suffered the loss of her mother. The comedian/actress underwent a double mastectomy and channeled her pain into her act. On Aug. 3, just a few days after her cancer diagnosis, she performed a now legendary set that garnered attention from comedians including Louis C.K.
The documentary will be executive produced by Notaro alongside Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver of Left/Right (This American Life) for Showtime. Christopher Wilcha and Michael LaHaie will co-exec produce. The Notaro entry marks the latest in a long line of documentaries at Showtime under David Nevins.
Notaro on Tuesday kicked off her nationwide search for fans interested in hosting her home performances and being part of the documentary.
