HollywoodLife continues to embarrass itself.
The webloid regularly spreads false reports about Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, stirring up bogus stories that get circulated by other sites — and then quashed by Gossip Cop.
Last week, the clueless blog got duped by a rumor that Pattinson was dating Riley Keough.
Gossip Cop had already debunked the story, mostly because, unlike HollywoodLife, we don’t consider inbox spam to be a “source.”
But HollywoodLife has little use for reality (if it’s not sensational), so the site announced that Stewart was allegedly devastated about the non-existent Pattinson-Keough relationship.
Several days passed, Robert Pattinson and Riley Keough continued to not date, and HollywoodLife had the chance to do the right thing and leave the b.s. narrative alone.
But it couldn’t help itself.
“Kristen Stewart Is ‘Seething’ Over Robert Pattinson’s New Love — Report,” reads the site’s new headline, a full week after most of the world stopped insisting the “new love” existed.
“Hell hath no fury like a woman scored!” bellows the site, hilariously misquoting an extremely famous quote, because sloppiness is what HollywoodLife does best.
The “report” HollywoodLife is borrowing comes from Grazia, an outlet last seen publishing a phony cover story about Pattinson purportedly going to the Oscars with Jennifer Lawrence.
That, of course, never happened.
Now a so-called “source” tells Grazia, “Kristen is seething. She understands things are over between her and Rob, but to see him now dating one of her closest friends is just too much for her to deal with and seeing the pictures really hurt her.”
The “pictures” did not show Pattinson with Keough.
They are not dating.
But HollywoodLife goes beyond just taking Grazia’s inaccurate reporting — the site repeats the bogus allegation that Pattinson and Keough are “quietly dating,” and alleges that a “source” has revealed that it’s because Pattinson is “confident Riley will never cheat on him, unlike Kristen.”
ENOUGH ALREADY.
The problem here is that anyone already acquainted with HollywoodLife’s track record will immediately be wary of this type of “report.”
But the Internet allows HollywoodLies — er, HollywoodLife — to spread its b.s. to other outlets in minutes, and those secondary readers may not have the benefit of putting this tripe in its proper context.
And so, as long as HollywoodLife keeps filling the celebrity news niche with inaccurate garbage, Gossip Cop will keep pointing it out.
Oh, and by the way, Robert Pattinson is still not dating Riley Keough.
