“A lot of it will be the people I’m working with and they’re pretty open with me, so I think we’ll getting some news that no one else has,” Skee told Billboard last week. “It’s really a show about my life.”

Based in Los Angeles, Skee has toured internationally as a DJ, hosts radio shows on KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, Sirius XM Satellite Radio and Clear Channel’s iHeart Radio. And for the past six years, he has run a lifestyle channel on YouTube titled Skee.TV. He came to prominence in 2005 when he collaborated on the Game’s mixtape 300 Bars and in 2010 was on Billboard’s “30 Under 30” list.

"DJ Skee is the voice of pop culture,” AXS TV founder/chairman Mark Cuban told Billboard via email. “He has access to everyone and anyone and more importantly he can get anyone to sit down and talk to him. He is about to become this generation's Oprah."

AXS TV, on air for less than a year, covers live music events and trends within pop culture. Besides Cuban, network partners include AEG, Ryan Seacrest Media, CAA and CBS.

Skee, who expressed admiration for Cuban’s efforts with the Dallas Mavericks and the show Shark Tank, sees potential for his show to tap into his pop culture obsessions, specifically sports and collecting sneakers. Having grown up mostly in Minnesota, Skee is an avid fan the Timberwolves, Twins and Vikings.

“After meeting Mark Cuban,” he says, “my dream is to one day buy the Timberwolves.”
