Josh Holloway made splash at Comic-Con — but it wasn't for a Lost reunion panel.
As the leader of CBS' midseason drama Intelligence, the former Lost star touted his new television series Thursday morning in San Diego. The series follows Gabriel (Holloway), a brilliant agent with a computer implanted into his brain.
"I'm one of the most computer illiterate," Holloway admitted during the Q&A session following the screening, saying that his brothers helped him with tech jargon. "I would use a computer if it's jammed in [my] head. It's a funny dichotomy that they picked me to be the tech guy."
Holloway likened Intelligence to a mixture of James Bond, Bourne Identity and Mission: Impossible, the latter of which he co-starred in. "I grew up wanting to play a secret agent of sorts," Holloway said, pointing to documentary Transcendent Man as inspiration. "It's very current because of the way our world is changing every day with technology."
Executive producer Michael Seitzman said that Six Million Dollar Man was an obvious inspiration. "We tried to make a show that is about humans as much as technology," he said, "The question we ask is: What part of the humanity is left when you augment [it]? ... What is more important than super-strength?"
When asked whether there would be a possible romance between Gabriel and Riley (Meaghan Ory), Seitzman was coy: "It seems like it's more already."
In terms of the chances of Gabriel's presumed dead wife Amelia resurfacing on the show, executive producer Tripp Vinson left the door open. "You should expect to see her and learn more about what happened to her and see how Josh is going to deal with all of that," he said.
On a lighter note, when asked which death was most difficult: Sawyer losing Juliet or Gabriel losing Amelia, Holloway laughed if off. "Wow. That's not fair. The loss of any love is tragic." Holloway answered diplomatically.
The biggest laughs during the pilot screening came during the comedic moments, many of them featuring Holloway's timely one-liners.
Intelligence debuts in February on CBS.
