Will Rothhaar to Play Lee Harvey Oswald in Nat Geo’s ‘Killing Kennedy’ (Exclusive)

National Geographic Channel has found its Lee Harvey Oswald.

Battle Los Angeles' Will Rothhaar has been tapped to play the assassin in the network's two-hour movie Killing Kennedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

He joins a cast that includes Rob Lowe as President John F. Kennedy, Ginnifer Goodwin as Jacqueline Kennedy and Michelle Trachtenberg as Marina Oswald. Rothhaar is the final of the four major players in the adaptation of Bill O'Relly's novel.

Additionally, Nat Geo has set the supporting cast for the telepic. Mary Pat Gleason (1600 Penn, Desperate Housewives) will play Oswald’s mother, Marguerite; Francis Guinan (Boss, Mike & Molly) is set as vice president Lyndon Baines Johnson; Boris McGiver (House of Cards) as suspicious FBI agent John Fain; and Jack Noseworthy (Event Horizon) will portray the president’s brother and trusted adviser Robert F. Kennedy.

The drama marks the latest adaptation from O'Reilly's collection of best-sellers, and comes four months after Killing Lincoln premiered to 3.4 million viewers. Production will begin in June in Richmond, Va., when Lowe and Goodwin are on hiatus from NBC's Parks and Recreation and ABC's Once Upon a Time, respectively. Like Killing LincolnKennedy will be produced by Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions. Nelson McCormick (The Good Wife, Southland) has been tapped to direct, with playwright and screenwriter Kelly Masterson penning the teleplay. The effort, which will tell the provocative story of Kennedy's last days, will run two hours, and is expected to premiere in 171 countries that carry NatGeo.

Killing Kennedy will premiere this year timed to the 50th anniversary of the assassination.

Rothhaar's credits include Last Resort, Listen Up, Fringe, Cold Case, ER and Fox's pilot Wild Blue, which was pushed off-cycle. He's repped by Innovative, Sanders Armstrong and Jackoway Tyerman.
