It was a long shot, but chances for a Happy Endings revival have run out.
The canceled ABC comedy won't be heading to another network, despite the aggressive efforts of Sony Pictures TV. The studio has halted its search for a new home, as the cast's options are all set to expire over the weekend, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Of the various networks Sony had tried to get to sign on for a fourth season Happy Endings, USA had been the most likely. The cable network, which is making moves into half-hour comedies, had been in serious talks to save the show for several weeks following its ABC axing before ultimately taking a pass. No other series options ever presented themselves.
Premiering late in the season in 2011, Happy Endings was greeted with tepid ratings before achieving cult status among fans and critics. Its sophomore run saw ratings swell with a Modern Family lead-in, but its move to ABC's new Tuesday comedy block this past season proved a non-starter.
Over its three seasons, Happy Endings earned nominations for Critics Choice Awards, GLAAD Media Awards and NAACP Image Awards.
Happy Endings was created by David Caspe, who shared co-showrunning duties with fellow ep Jonathan Groff. It starred Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Adam Pally, Damon Wayans Jr. and Casey Wilson.
