The English comedian/actor was being belittled during the MSNBC morning show, and unfortunately for the program’s regulars, he has the wit to battle back.
Here's what the crew at Morning Joe didn't know about Russell Brand: In addition to being a wild-limbed comedian, he's quite well read and has some solid experience in humiliating clueless politicos. So when he visited Mika Brzezinski and the gang on Tuesday, they clearly weren't ready for what was going to happen.
Brand was on to talk about his upcoming comedy tour, "Messiah Complex," but the conversation soon turned to his accent. He's British, and thus a natural English speaker whose accent is nothing new to American ears, but it seems they have some difficulty in understanding him — something that they expressed by talking about him in the third person.
"You are talking about me as if I'm not here, and as if I'm an extraterrestrial," he objected. "You know that I'm from a country that is near to you."
That put Brzezinski on her heels, and she flat out admitted that she was nervous around him.
"This is what you all do for a living?" Brand snarked. "These people are I'm sure typically very, very good at their job," he added. "What is it, you convey news to the people of America? People of America, we're going to be OK! Everything's alright! These are your trusted anchors."
Then he went and just took over the show.
