The former Family Guy staff writer shared in Modern Family's best comedy series WGA Award win in 2011 and 2012 and this year nabbed an individual win for her work on the "Virgin Territory" episode of the awards season darling.
"Elaine is a 20th Century Fox Television success story, starting her career as a staff writer on Do Not Disturb and Family Guy," 20th TV chairman Dana Walden said. "[Co-creators/co-showrunners] Steve [Levitan] and Chris [Lloyd] value her enormously, as do we. This deal keeps her on our incredibly important Modern Family, as well as allows her to develop down the road. We’re thrilled she’ll be staying in the 20th family for years to come."
Ko's ascent comes as Modern Family continues to add to its staff. The comedy enlisted Up All Night creator Emily Spivey as the newest member of its writing staff.
