Mike Tyson and Spike Lee Team Up for HBO Special

HBO Films announced Tuesday that Mike Tyson's one-man show is getting the TV treatment. Spike Lee will direct the former boxer's stage show in July, with a premiere eyed for later in the year.

“Mike Tyson’s one-man show is a fascinating journey into his storied life and career, and we are thrilled to have Spike Lee bring it from the stage to the screen for our viewers,” said HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo.

Undisputed Truth, which debuted in Las Vegas in 2012 before running on Broadway and enjoying a 10-week U.S. tour, covers the highs and lows of Tyson's life.

“I’m incredibly grateful to HBO for partnering with me and for believing in my story,” said Tyson. “It is an honor and a privilege to be working with them to bring my one-man show, Undisputed Truth, to life on the television screen.”

This is not the first project HBO, Lee and Tyson have tackled together. The cable network gave a pilot order for a boxing drama from the duo in 2011, a project it ultimately passed on.

Lee, Mike Tyson, Kiki Tyson, Jon Kilik and James Nederlander are executive producing Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth. Kiki Tyson is writing.
