The seat fillers on VH1’s depressing chat fest “The Gossip Table” teased major Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt news on Thursday.

According to the show’s “insiders,” after same-sex marriage scored major Supreme Court victories this week, the couple — who have said they wanted to wait for marriage equality to tie the knot themselves — supposedly set an official wedding date.

“This is a very big deal,” announced the reporter with the alleged scoop.

Cool… so when are Jolie and Pitt getting married?

“The Gossip Table” has no idea.

We repeat: The hyped-up story about Jolie and Pitt setting a wedding date contains no wedding date.

There’s no story.

“The Wedding of the Century could be this summer,” blathered the “Gossip Table” contributor to the delight of his fellow panelists, none of whom had any information whatsoever to add.

He then explained, “It could be a very private affair and we all just happen to find out afterward.”

Oh, how helpful.

In other words, the same show that invented Jennifer Aniston pregnancy rumors is now just guessing about a “wedding date” for Jolie and Pitt — but doesn’t have the guts to say it on camera.

By the way, the “Gossip Table” reporter works for In Touch, which wrongly claimed last fall that Jolie did not want to marry Pitt, after running a bogus cover story in June 2011 claiming they tied the knot secretly in France.

Nice work.
